Actress Anne Heche seriously injured in a fiery car accident in Mar Vista – NBC Los Angeles

Actress Anne Heche was seriously injured in a fiery car accident at her home in Mar Vista on Friday, NBCLA sources say.

The accident was reported shortly before 11 a.m. on 1700 South Walgrove Avenue block, Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

Police said the driver was speeding down a residential street and drove 30 feet into the house. The Mini Cooper involved in the accident sped up and possibly hit the curb before launching from more than two feet away through the front yard.

The owner of the house was in the yard at the time of the accident and was not injured.

A neighbor described what he saw after rescuing the driver.

“The house was tons of smoke. I think they used a crane to move the car to pull the driver. It was crazy.

Humphrey said the car stopped in a 738-square-foot, two-story house that was built in 1952.

The accident resulted in a design compromise and a fire, Humphrey said.

“Fifty-nine firefighters took 65 minutes to access, contain, and completely extinguish the stubborn flames in the heavily damaged structure and to save one adult woman found in the vehicle who was taken to the District Hospital by LAFD emergency responders,” said Humphrey.
